It has been observed – and I am sure most of you parents will also have noted -- that the children spend the ideal evening hours commuting from school to home and not in games and activities, which is the right way.
The children who are energetic and active when boarding the bus at 4.15pm lose their energy and enthusiasm by the time they reach home and tend to sit before the TV rather than engage in any other activity or game again. The long travel makes them lazy and tired. It is ideal for child to complete all activities and travel rather than give break for travel between activities.
It has always been our focus at Sreenidhi to impart wholesome education to the child.
With the above mentioned ideas in mind, we have conceived “Extra Time Zone” (ETZ) programme from 4.15pm to 5.45pm. “Extra Time Zone” (ETZ) is an excellent wholesome facility offered to all at Sreenidhi International School but the scheme is of course not compulsory.
ETZ provides an excellent opportunity to children who want to excel and want to have more time for “Major Sport” selected in their regular school hours or for those who want to try another sport along with their “Major Sport”.
There are lots of activities offered in ETZ. All sports disciplines like Golf, Tennis, Cricket, Football, Basketball, swimming & squash are offered in this programme; apart from sports the other activities offered are Sculpture, Pottery, Music, Theatre etc. “Extra Time Zone” is offered to students of all Grades including grade V and below.
ETZ, if opted, will be there for all days of the week. A child can select one discipline in sports, which will be given for three days in a week and he can select another activity for the remaining two days.
For the children of Grade VIII, IX & X the option is limited to only one selected sport/activity for three days and remaining two days there will be compulsory academic programme of Mathematics and Sciences under supervision of the subject teachers.
For the children below grade VIII who need additional academic support the option is limited to only one sport/activity for three days and remaining two days will be devoted to academics.
School will offer Golf coaching programme on campus under experienced golfers specially trained in San Diego to coach children. Golf driving range will be ready on campus by the start of the next academic year.
Four tennis courts will be ready and School is in negotiations with an internationally known Tennis Academy for a tie-up for coaching school children.
All the sports and other activities including academics are offered to children of Sreenidhi absolutely free of any extra charge except for Golf & Tennis in “Extra Time Zone”. Charges for Golf & Tennis will be intimated by a separate circular shortly.
All parents are aware of the closing time of regular School, which is 4.15pm and all buses have to leave for their respective routes to drop children.
School has to arrange additional buses/ additional trips to drop the children who opt for ETZ, therefore there will be an additional annual transport charge of Rs. 12,000/-.
Our sincere advice to all parents is to make use of this unique facility offered where all sports (except Golf & Tennis), extra-curricular activities and academics for higher classes are offered under supervision by reputed teachers and coaches without any extra charge.
Activities offered are various and there is an additional charge of Rs 12,000/ per annum for transport, which amounts to only Rs 1,000/- per month.
This concept is followed in good private schools abroad where child goes back home after 6pm, completing his full day’s comprehensive programme at School to chat with parents, have dinner with them and come back to School the next morning.
At this juncture, we are happy to inform you that Ms Lakshmi Prabhakar has been appointed as Sports Administrator, who will coordinate the requirements of Sport Department, Parents and the Students.
We also have in school, a full-time Football Trainer, apart from specialists for Athletics, Basketball and Swimming. Golf Trainer specially trained in San Diego, USA will train students in Golf and Tennis coach from the Tennis Academy will handle tennis training.
